It is an extremely fast and efficient software which can give accurate results in a shorter time. It is developed by using a SIMU module consisting of a computer with two processors. The SIMU module is connected with a VHDL (Very High Speed Hardware Description Language) file which contains the circuits. The circuits are simulated for different load conditions using the graphical user interface in Simulink and exported as Binary File (.bit) file. In the binary file, both process time and state variables are stored which help us analyze the performance of the system. The construction of Simulink software is done by six modules namely; Control, Controller, CPU_1, Motor_1, Motor_2 and Stepping_Motor. They are explained below: Control Module --------------------- The motor controller is divided into two types: step-mode and continuous-mode. The step-mode controller is used for forward and backward movements of the motor. The output of the CPU module is used as a reference for the step-mode controller. However, if the output voltage of the CPU module becomes 0, it is used as a reference for the continuous-mode controller. The continuous-mode controller is used for constant speed movements of the motor. When the power supply of the PC is removed or the power supply of the motor is switched off, it should be taken to stop the motors. Controller Module The motor controller is a state machine whose states are described in the VHDL file. The states are taken from different conditions and updated according to the change in the state of the motor. The motor speed can be adjusted to various values with help of the microcontroller. CPU Module The CPU module is responsible for communication between two different modules. It is used to receive the commands to simulate the motor in step mode or in continuous mode and updates the state variables of the motor accordingly. It also implements the software/hardware loops that are used in the simulator. Motor Module The motor module controls the movement of the motor based on the state variables of the CPU module. The state variables can be adjusted for the speed or the direction of the motor. Stepping Motor Module The stepping motor module controls the movement of the motor by the steps.
